Student Body
The student body consists of a government (10 members) and 18 tutors who are in charge of the student life.
The tutors’ most important task is to help and guide the new pupils in the 7th grade. They also arrange discos and meetings. The government represents the pupils and takes care of their rights.
After the school in the afternoons there are different kinds of clubs available, eg. in sports, music and arts. The clubs are offered by our teachers and cooperation partners outside the school.
Cooperation
Lyseo is in active cooperation with different partners eg. the parish of Seinäjoki, the police, different fields of town services, associations and enterprises.
The cooperation is based on the educational aims of our curriculum and the activity of the students.Lyseo tries to broaden its learning environment towards the surrounding society and to offer the students the possibility to learn and develop their facilities for the future working life.

International Activities
International relations have become a natural part of the activities in Lyseo.
The previous Comenius project on student welfare ended in summer 2009. Read more about the project on its website http://www.student-welfare.eu/
We are starting a new Comenius project on the theme youth culture and the cooperation between schools and local cultural entrepreneurs. The preparatory meeting will take place in Hedenäset, Sweden, on the 8th – 9th November 2010. There will be participants from Sweden, Germany, Italy, Spain and England.
2010-2011 Lyseo will continue in a language teaching network project Vieko including all the comprehensive schools in Seinäjoki. Its aim is to promote the learning of the so called A2 languages (German, French, Russian, Spanish). It is part of a national Kielitivoli project financed by Opetushallitus, National Board of Education.
We started CLIL teaching in English in the autumn 2009 and have now two groups (one in the 7th and one in the 8th grade) taught in English in some subjects. This has strengthened our internationalization.
Lyseo cooperates with Svenska Föreningen i Östermyra, a local organization promoting the status of the Swedish language in our area. The Swedish groups visit the organization and take part in Lucia day every year.
Lyseo has many foreign visitors each year. A group of 9th graders is educated to perform as guides for the guests.
